Can a tradesman report me to the credit bureau?

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Hi.

I manage a small building in Chicago. I called a heating expert in to consult on a radiator which was not putting out enough heat to effectively warm my apartment. He came in for five minutes, looked at the radiator, felt around the walls and windows, and then told me I need better insulation, then he left. He did nothing to my heating system or radiator.

. Next thing I know he sends me a bill for $40 for travel time and telling me to insulate my wall. The information about the insulation I knew already and did not ask him for. And as a tradesman myself I never charge for consultations or travel time. I consider that part of my own cost of doing buisiness.

I am refusing to pay the bill by reason that he did no actual work, that he can't charge me for travel time, and that he should have told me BEFORE he showed up that he planned to invoice me for travel and consultation.

I signed no contracts with him, he has no information on me other than my name, phone number, and address. There are no records of expenses and no photographs of any work he did, because he did not do anything.

Furthermore, I am just the building manager. I don't own the building. This bill should really go to the owner, not me.

Question, can he report me to the credit bureau?

A delinquent credit obligation?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

I am an international graduate student. I recently applied for Citi credit card but it was rejected saying (in email)
"A delinquent credit obligation(s), either paid
or unpaid, was recorded on your credit bureau report."

They got the report from Equifax credit information service.
I cannot remember any such credit obligations. I pay my bills on time. How can this happen? Is it something serious? What should I do next? I want suggestions from experts plz. I am an international student and so do not have much idea about it. Help me please.

so confused! Financial experts/lawyers advice please….?

Ok, this is going to be kind of long, and I don't want any smart remarks or know it alls to answer this for me….I need some real advice……

My husband and I just put in for a home loan. We found out that his equifax credit score is 422 which shocked us because we couldn't figure out why it was so low. We knew that our credit wasn't that great, but never knew it was that low! My husband checked his credit scores with experian and the other place a few weeks back and it said it was over 620…..Ok, my husband got intouch with equifax to find out what was going on and they told him that a chapter 13 had been filed on his credit and that he had let a house go back….The weird thing is that we have NEVER filed bankruptcy and we've never owned a house to be able to let it go back! So, we have an idea of what it could be…..My horrible mother in-law had a house that she let go back around the time that it's showing on his credit…..she had asked my husband for his social security number so she could add him to her insurance as a beneficiary…..I'm wondering if she didn't lie about that, and really got his ssn to sign her house over in his name…..Could this be possible with out him knowing it? She would have had to forge his signature and all right? What could we do about this if this is really what happened? I mean there is no other logical explanation….I know, my husband should have never gave out his ssn, but it's his mother for crying out loud! We never knew that she was going to flip out…and yea, she totally flipped out (lost her mind) no offense…..I'm confused and need some advice…..needless to say we were turned down for the home loan :(

Is it possible that the credit bureau made a mistake and confused my husband with some other guy with the same name?

If Credit reporting is so important, how come the credit bureaus are unlicensed, unqualified, & no financial?

they do not have finanically licensed experts . ITs a $8.00 an hour job and they hire people with just high school degrees. I used to work at Equifax i know first hand.

How long does take for a student loan creditor to report to credit bureaus a past due balance as finally paid?

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Hi Experts!

I am recovering from a hit to my credit report in the form of two consecutive non-payments on a small student loan. The loan bill was sent to my parents house who are retired and have been in Europe for the past 3 months so I don't completely blame myself. However - I just paid the payment balance last week and i'm curious about the effect it will have on my report.

So my questions are:
1)Will it take a month for the loan creditor to report the payment to the credit bureaus or is this more of an instantaneous process?
2)Now that the account dues are paid, will the loan be removed from the "adverse accounts" section of my report and will my score jump up at all?

I'm really interested in building up my score - this hit was a real punch in the nose for me. I guess there are always bumps in the road :(

Well thanks in advance for all of your help and I'm looking forward to reading your responses.

How does one get their credit score updated quickly after paying off credit cards?

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Hi experts!

I'm in the process of paying off my credit card debt in hopes of raising my FICO score before refinancing my student loans. I really want to get the loans refinanced ASAP as my monthly payments are currently absurd.

My problem is that even though I can afford to pay my credit card debt off now, I know the FICO score won't update for 2-4 weeks. I've read on some other posts in this forum that one can make some calls to rush the credit report updating process, however I wasn't quite understanding who I should call and exactly what I should say. Do I call my credit card issuer or is there a bureau I should be contacting? Does anyone know of any other options besides calling that may be better?

I really really appreciate your time and help…it will end up saving me lots of money! All advice is welcome and highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Curt

What is the best way to dispute wrong entries on credit report?
How long does it take?
Should I do it with all three bureaus or just one?
Can it be done by phone?
Any advice?

P.S. I have a broken lease plus phone service from the address I have never resided at….

What do you do when disputing a truly inaccurate credit item with Experian Equifaxor TransUnion doesn't work?

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

I have been using this free credit repair kit on this website: www.expert-credit-advice.com and have had many inaccurate items removed by using the pretyped dispute letters, however; a few of the truly inaccurate items have been deemed "accurate" by the bureaus. I used the demand and follow up letter and the bureaus insist that I am using a credit repair company and refuse to investigate further because they say I am a frivelous consumer disputer!!!! I am simply wanting my credit to be accurate and they will not do anything further than offer me a "consumer statement of a 100 words or less". I heard placing a consumer statement is really bad, so I dont want to place one.

Can someone please tell me how to approach the bureaus; sue them, send more letters????

Question about auto loan?

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

I'm really confused, I have been trying to establish credit to get a nice car on my own without a co signer. I make pretty good income, but the credit has always been a problem. I went to the dealer without my co signer, I check my credit on experian CREDIT EXPERT, everyday and after 6 months on 1 card and also a couple of secured loans with 3 months on each I thought I had established enough credit with my income to go and get the car of my dreams, then I went to the dealership with my income paystubs YTD everything verifies that I make 4-5K a month and they pulled my credit. It showed up that I have 0 on all 3 bureaus. 0?!? I have established no credit after 6 months?!?! Thats a bunch of BS.
